Apple blocks Steam's plan to extend its video games to iPhones
Apple Inc has blocked the plans of the biggest distributor of PC-based video games to extend its reach into iPhones, according to the game distributor, a sign that Apple is serious about protecting its ability to take a cut of digital purchases made inside games on its mobile devices.
Steam, the dominant online store for downloaded games played on Windows PCs, had planned to release a free mobile phone app called Steam Link so that gamers could continue playing on their mobile phones while away from their desktop machines. But Apple has rejected the app, blocking its release, according to a statement from Steam's parent company, the Bellevue, Washington-based Valve Corp.

The iPhone X is easily the best phone I’ve ever owned. And in almost every way, it performs exactly as I would like it to. There is just one problem, a thing that might seem so minor as to not be an issue at all but is the one thing that regularly makes me contemplate chucking my $1,000 gadget against a brick wall.

Screenshots.

To take a screenshot on the iPhone X, you simply press the side button on the right and one of the volume buttons on the left. The side button also powers the phone on and off, activates Siri, and locks the phone, so you’re hitting it all the time. All of the buttons positioned conveniently in the exact spot where I naturally hold my phone. The result is that it’s easy to take a screenshot—but I would argue that it’s simply too easy, to the point where I’m accidentally taking screenshots all the time. Pick up my phone to turn off the alarm in the morning—screenshot. Go to lock the phone—another screenshot. Just scrolling through Twitter—another goddamn screenshot. At first, you think it’s going to be one of those things like new home button gesture that’ll have a learning curve, but I’ve had the iPhone X six monthsnow, and it’s still happening all the time

The notch will totally be worth it if iPhones eventually look like this

The notch will totally be worth it if iPhones eventually look like this Just because I’ve gotten used to the iPhone X and its signature notch, doesn’t mean I like it, but I do understand its purpose. So, I choose to accept it, thinking happy thoughts of what the not-too-distant future will bring. The notch, of course,The notch, of course, is the popular name for that half-a-bezel that is placed atop of the iPhone X, which is otherwise a truly all-screen handset. Many have copied Apple’s notch just for the sake of having their Android devices look cool by association, but nobody is doing it right.

I’m frustrated as hell, and I’m not alone. Accidental-screenshot rage is a regular topicof complaintonReddit and otherApple forums, where people regularly rail against the problem. “iPhone X is my ultimate unwanted screenshot machine,” redditor mrqpa recently wrote—a sentiment apparently shared by the thousands of people who upvoted his gripe.

Snapping an errant screenshot once in a while—or, in my case, multiple times a day—wouldn’t be a huge deal if you could easily delete the image. You can swipe it off your screen, but it’s still saved, cluttering up your photo album with useless pictures of your screen at random moments. The quickest way to delete the image without saving it is to tap on it, click “done,” and then click “Delete screenshot”—three steps to undo a thing you never meant to do in the first place.

iPhones will reportedly get NFC updates to unlock doors and cars

iPhones will reportedly get NFC updates to unlock doors and cars The Information reports that Apple is set to upgrade iPhones that are equipped with NFC chips with the ability to unlock doors, hotel rooms, and cars. The NFC (near-field communication) chip, present in the iPhone 6 and up, allows for contactless information exchanges, and makes it possible to use Apple Pay to pay for purchases at stores by holding your phone close to a supported credit card reader. The NFC (near-field communication) chip, present in the iPhone 6 and up, allows for contactless information exchanges, and makes it possible to use Apple Pay to pay for purchases at stores by holding your phone close to a supported credit card reader.

Apple doesn’t currently offer a way to turn off this feature in the settings or change how to engage the screenshot feature. And I’m not saying they should eliminate the feature entirely—screenshots can be useful! But there must be a better way. For example, Apple could make screenshots an iOS gesture rather than being activated by the easy-to-hit buttons.

Anyone who’s used iOS 11 knows it’s full of faults—so much so that Apple has reportedly held off rolling out flashy new features in iOS 12 just so it can fix all the problems with the current mobile OS. With Apple set to reveal iOS 12 on Monday at WWDC, I’m praying the company addresses this annoying screenshot flaw.

There’s a chance next year’s Galaxy S10 might be faster than this year’s iPhone .
The Galaxy Note 9 isn’t even here yet, and there’s already talk about Samsung’s next Galaxy S model, the S10, which is supposed to bring over several design changes and improvements. A new report says that the Galaxy S10 will pack a much faster Samsung-made chip, which is only to be expected. The Galaxy S9’s Exynos 9810 already proved that Samsung is getting better at designing its own processors, although the Snapdragon 845 version of the phone outclassed it in real-life tests, in spite of scoring worse in benchmarks.
