Johnny Manziel shows off some of the ol’ Johnny Football magic in CFL debut You won’t see a preseason CFL game get as much buzz as Friday night’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ game against the Toronto Argonauts. That’s because it was the CFL debut of Johnny Manziel. The former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback entered the game in the second quarter as Hamilton’s No. 2 quarterback. He got 23 snaps, and completed 9-of-12 passes for 80 yards. As has always been the case with Manziel, he seemed to be most successful on the move, making plays happen out of the pocket. This looks a bit like the Johnny Football days at Texas A&M.Vintage Manziel on this play. #CFLGameDaypic.twitter.

The Regina Riot have been in the Western Women’s Canadian Football League, a women’s tackle football league, since its 2011 beginnings, and they’ve been hot lately, winning WWCFL championships in 2015 and 2017 (by 53-6 and 53-0 scores respectively). After a 3-0 regular season (where they outscored opponents 114-21), the Riot are set to start the playoffs against the Edmonton Storm Sunday, but they are facing an off-field challenge. Namely, someone stole their team manager’s van, complete with the team’s uniforms. The team put out an appeal for help on Twitter Monday:

About The Regina Riot . Our History. We are Regina ’s only elite-level women ’ s tackle football program. This has led to the emergence of the Riot ’s annual Teal game , where the Riot dons the OCC’s corporate colour and cancer survivors are celebrated.

What makes the Regina Riot different than the other football teams you’ve played for? This team has grown in many ways since I first became involved. We’ve moved away from just being a group of women playing football , and moved toward being an elite team working together to achieve a

It’s positive that the team’s already acquired backup uniforms, but that’s still highly unfortunate. And hopefully the van and the uniforms will be located ahead of Sunday’s game. There’s enough to worry about ahead of the playoffs without your uniforms going missing.
