A majority of U.S. voters say President Trump has emboldened racists to express their beliefs openly, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll . Trump has denied accusations that he is racist , saying he is "the least racist person."

While 47 percent of voters blame Trump more for this lack of civility, 37 percent blame the Democrats more. Voters say 55 – 39 percent that Trump has emboldened people who hold racist beliefs to express those beliefs publicly.

A majority of U.S. voters say President Trump has emboldened racists to express their beliefs openly, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

Fifty-five percent of voters said Trump has made it easier for those with racist beliefs to share those views publicly. Thirty-nine percent disagreed.

The Quinnipiac poll took the country's pulse on issues such as civility, immigration and President Trump's character.

Forty-nine percent of voters polled also said Trump is racist while 47 said he is not.

Many Trump critics have attributed the rise in white nationalist voices in public to Trump's rhetoric on immigration.

In a mid-February AP-NORC poll , 57 percent of all adults in the U.S. said they believe Trump is racist . Spencer Buettgenbach, 23, of Topeka, Kansas, said the Republican president has emboldened attitudes about racism , sexism and homophobia by “normalizing abusive talk.”

The NAACP last week blamed the rising number of hate crimes in the U.S. to Trump's language and policies.

"From campaign to election, this president has spewed the language of division and hate and it has manifested in not only racist policies, but in racists acts against people of color and other groups," Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP, said in the statement.

Hate crimes against black, Hispanic, Jewish and gay Americans have risen for the fourth year in a row, according to a study released last week by the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism.

Trump has denied accusations that he is racist, saying he is "the least racist person."

Poll: Most Russians dislike Trump .
The majority of Russians said they have negative view of President Trump, according to a new poll from the Russian Public Opinion Research Center.The poll, conducted earlier this week, found that 71 percent of respondents had an unfavorable view of Trump, compared to just 10 percent who had favorable views. Nearly 20 percent of respondents said they had no opinion.A large majority-77 percent-of respondents said specifically that they view Trump as "self-centered," and just 16 percent said they think the U.S. president is "trustworthy."A majority also described Trump as "dangerous.
