This Galaxy S9 news could make Apple’s bad day even worse

This Galaxy S9 news could make Apple’s bad day even worse Apple shares are down nearly 3 percent on Tuesday, following a report that the company is planning to slash forecasts for iPhone X sales in the first quarter of 2018. A report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily suggests that Apple will cut forecasts to 30 million units, down from 50 million. If true, that’s going to be a huge blow for Apple, and investors who were expecting a “super-cycle” of iPhone X sales. But things are only getting worse for Apple, as South Korean paper ET News is reporting that Samsung will release the Galaxy S9 a little earlier than expected next year.

The newest addition to Samsung ’ s curved display lineup, called CJ791, is the first curved monitor in the industry to have Thunderbolt 3 . With this connectivity, the 34-inch monitor can align power source and processing speed into one.

Thunderbolt 3, the high-bandwidth interconnect that works using the USB-C connector, is still struggling to break into the mainstream, but Samsung is giving it a helpful nudge today.

Announced in the buildup to CES 2018, the latest curved QLED monitor from Samsung supports Thunderbolt 3, allowing it to both receive video from your laptop and charge it with up to 85W of power. It has the unglamorous title of CJ791 and measures in at 34 inches diagonally, with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 3,440 x 1,440 resolution, and a 4ms response time.

The big advantage of Thunderbolt 3 is in streamlining the number and size of cables required to connect a series of peripherals to your computer. Combined with Samsung’s minimal design of the CJ791 and a USB-C laptop, it promises to deliver some extremely tidy and efficient desktop working environments. Samsung has yet to disclose the full specs, price, and availability of the CJ791, holding on to those details until the monitor’s full unveiling at CES in Las Vegas next week.

Samsung phones will have functioning FM chips from now on .
Samsung is the latest company to team up with NextRadio to bring FM service to its new phones. Radio might seem outdated, but it has its uses. First of all, it's free. Additionally, the NextRadio app, which connects to local FM stations, uses significantly fewer than traditional streaming services — to the tune of 20 percent less data and three times less battery. And finally, in an emergency, FM radio is much more reliable to send and receive information than other services.
