Intel ’s startling marriage with AMD ’s graphics chips has finally borne fruit, as Intel announced five new Core H-series chips that use two variants of the AMD “Vega M” GPU.

And now at CES 2018, the first fruits of that partnership have been revealed, in the form of a pair of Intel Core i 5 and i 7 chips powered by discrete AMD Radeon RX Vega M GPUs. Along with the processor and GPU, each unit also has 4GB of HMB2 VRAM onboard

Back in November, longtime rivals Intel and AMD shocked the computing world when the two companies announced that they’d be teaming up to create laptop chips that combined Intel’s Core line of processors with AMD’s Radeon graphics.

And now at CES 2018, the first fruits of that partnership have been revealed, in the form of a pair of Intel Core i5 and i7 chips powered by discrete AMD Radeon RX Vega M GPUs. Along with the processor and GPU, each unit also has 4GB of HMB2 VRAM onboard, which Intel says should help drastically save space internally for laptops while increasing battery life.

Samsung preps Chrome OS tablet with a high-end camera

Samsung preps Chrome OS tablet with a high-end camera Samsung's Chromebooks haven't always been smashing successes, but it's clearly willing to shake up its formula when necessary. There aren't many other clues, although the detachable design suggests this will likely be relatively compact with a 12-inch or smaller screen. To us, the bigger questions are the launch details. You might see Samsung unveil Nautlius at CES later in January, but we wouldn't call it a guarantee. And then there's the matter of price.

While they may have been rivals in the past, this partnership proves that Intel and AMD are willing to work together to create better processors for desktops and laptops. Going into details, the new i 5 and i 7 chips are equipped with AMD ’s Radeon RX Vega M graphics , boasting of 4GB of HMB2 VRAM for

Now Intel ’s got a new line of chips that have discrete graphics integrated into the same package. As announced last year, the company worked with rival AMD on a new set of solutions that combine an Intel processor and AMD Radeon Vega M graphics .

The new chips are part of Intel’s H-series line of eighth-generation chips, designed to be the most powerful processors that the company offers for laptops. In other words, these are the Intel processors that you’ll see in top-of-the-line gaming laptops and professional machines going forward.

Intel and AMD have yet to actually announce any laptops from any partners that will be getting the new chips, but given that it’s CES, we’ll hopefully hear more sometime this week.
