Instagram vs. Snapchat: a battle to the last feature

Instagram vs. Snapchat: a battle to the last feature <p>The end of February wasn’t kind to Snapchat-maker Snap: it rolled out a redesign that users decided they hated, and a single Kylie Jenner tweet about the app sent the company’s stock into a spiral. But, really, Snap’s struggles preceded all of that, due in no small part to rival Instagram.</p>Facebook-owned Instagram has “borrowed” plenty of features from Snapchat. And in doing so it has managed, in a relatively short period of time, to build what feels like its own successful social silo (provided you can forget about that whole it’s-a-part-of-Facebook thing).

In late March, you'll start seeing Lenses with their creators' names underneath their titles mixed with Snapchat's own and sponsored options. According to Mashable, Snapchat will feature some of the Lenses people created using the company's Lens Studio tool. It's unclear what qualities will make Snap choose a particular Lens -- at the very least, it most likely has to look good and well-made -- but interested creators will have to opt into Snap's "Creator Boost" program if they want the company to consider their submissions.

Snapchat finally adds @ mention tagging

Snapchat finally adds @ mention tagging Snapchat now lets you @-tag someone in your Story, creating a swipe up "more" option that shows the tagged person's name, handle, Bitmoji, and an Add button so you can follow them too. The feature could let friends call each other out in Stories, or promote their favorite influencers by making it easy for people to follow them. It's a case of Snapchat copying Instagram back after the Facebook-owned app added @ mentions to Stories back in November 2016, just a few months after Instagram cloned Snapchat's whole Stories feature.

Mashable says Lens Studio has received 30,000 submissions since its launch in December, so Snapchat will have a huge number of Lenses to choose from if most creators choose to opt in. They won't get paid even if Snapchat chooses to highlight their creation, though -- good thing the app has 187 million daily active users that'll make that good ole "exposure as compensation" worth it.

Bumble called Tinder’s parent company a ‘bully,’ and promised it would never sell to them, ‘no matter the price tag’ .
<p>Bumble finally responded to a recent lawsuit from Match Group: “We swipe left on you We’ll never be yours.”</p>Match Group’s chances of acquiring the dating app Bumble have officially gone up in flames.
