How Verstappen became Hamilton's biggest threat

How Verstappen became Hamilton's biggest threat Lewis Hamilton reckons F1's "four strongest drivers" are himself, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen. Here's how the 20-year-old earned his place alongside three world champions. Of all the current drivers on the Formula 1 grid, you can bet Lewis Hamilton is most wary of Max Verstappen. At the end of last season, when asked about the drivers he would most need to watch if all had roughly equal cars, Hamilton confirmed the names of three rivals he felt were operating at a similar level. Verstappen was right there, alongside Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso.

Daniel Ricciardo says his Red Bull Formula 1 teammate Max Verstappen has " matured a lot " during the 2017 season and now has more respect for his rivals.

Daniel Ricciardo says his Red Bull Formula 1 teammate Max Verstappen has "matured a lot" during the 2017 season and now has more respect for his rivals.

Ricciardo finished 32 points clear of Verstappen in the drivers' standings, but the latter suffered more reliability problems, particularly early in the season.

The duo banged wheels in Hungary, after Verstappen locked up and ran into the side of Ricciardo into the right Turn 2 left-hander on the opening lap.

Ricciardo described the move as "amateur" with Verstappen later speaking to his teammate one-to-one and apologising for the incident.

Hamilton expects Vettel to come back 'guns blazing' in 2018

Hamilton expects Vettel to come back 'guns blazing' in 2018 Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton expects title rival Sebastian Vettel to return "all guns blazing" in 2018, having learned from his major errors during their 2017 championship battle. Vettel led the points standings for 12 straight races at the start of the season, before losing out as Hamilton went on a winning surge after the August break.Losing potential victories by deliberately driving into Hamilton in Azerbaijan and triggering a three-way collision with Kimi Raikkonen and Max Verstappen in Singapore caused major damage to Vettel's title challenge.

Daniel Ricciardo says his Red Bull Formula 1 teammate Max Verstappen has " matured a lot " during the 2017 season and now has more respect for his rivals.

"The hot water in Budapest, that was a bit of a test," Ricciardo told Motorsport.com. "Fortunately he handled it well afterwards and apologised and did what he had to.

"So I feel like there is that respect for each other. Max matured a lot this year, on and off the track. On track, he was more sensible. He was under a lot less scrutiny than he was last year.

"I feel like he also respects the competitors a bit more."

Ricciardo said he has no problem going wheel-to-wheel against with Verstappen in the future.

"We'd race it out," he said. "If things happened, we'd find a way to deal with it but I'd still say it's a good problem to have.

"If there is a bit of friction, I'd rather that than be fighting for sixth and have no friction."

Red Bull is yet to have a title-challenging package during the V6 turbo hybrid era of F1, but if it manages to rectify that next season, Ricciardo said his relationship with Verstappen "could" change if they found themselves fighting for the championship.

"I don't think it would ever get to a point like Lewis [Hamilton] and Nico [Rosberg]," said Ricciardo. "That was a pretty special situation. It would only get to that point if we lost respect for each other.

"The races he won this year, I acknowledged it, said he was a better driver on the weekend or the day. And that was that.

"If I start saying it's because of this or the team gave him the better engine, then you'll create problems.

"If you're honest, acknowledge he did better and then find a way not to let it happen again!"

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Celebrate New Year's Eve Together in Cabo: They Are 'Doing Great' .
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are kicking off the new year together! Bieber, 23, joined Gomez, 25, for a New Year’s celebration in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a source tells PEOPLE. “Justin and Selena are doing great. They celebrated New Year’s Eve together in Cabo,” says the source. Gomez arrived in Cabo earlier in the week with a group of friends. On Friday, the 25-year-old “Bad Liar” singer was seen splashing around with pals Raquelle Stevens, Courtney Barry, and Ashley Cook in an Instagram photo shared to Stevens’ page. Bieber also hinted that he was in a tropical location with social media posts over the weekend. He posed nearly-shirtless with two male friends for a snap shared to his Instagram Story on Sunday. Gomez and Bieber — who dated on-and-off from 2011 to 2015 — have been spending a lot of time together in the wake of her split from ex-boyfriend The Weeknd in October. She was first spotted spending time with the “What Do You Mean?” singer that same month, going on a bike ride and attending church together. The former flames have continued to fuel reconciliation rumors since then, even sharing a smooch at Beiber’s hockey games. Multiple sources previously told PEOPLE Gomez’s family was concerned about the on-again romance and that Bieber was determined to show her loved ones he had matured. “It’s, of course, a bit frustrating that Selena’s family is still not happy about their relationship,” added the source. “Hopefully this will change in the new year.
