Watch: Bill Walton was ready to light some grass on TV Watching Bill Walton call a college basketball game on national television, you never know quite what you’re going to get. The retired hoops icon was working Thursday’s game between the Arizona Wildcats and the Utah Utes on ESPN, when some classic Bill Walton hijinks ensued. Walton pulled out what appeared to be braided stalks of sweetgrass (Utah head coach Larry Krystowiak has something of a tradition of burning sweetgrass in the team’s locker room) and seemed ready to light up on TV.Bill Walton doing weed on TV pic.twitter.

DALLAS -- For the first time since LaVar Ball's critical comments, Los Angeles Lakers majority owner Jeanie Buss and team president Magic Johnson tweeted support for coach Luke Walton on Saturday.

The Lakers always knew that LaVar Ball would be impossible to ignore, but the Big Baller's most recent criticism of Lakers head coach Luke Walton sparked a massive controversy after Ball said the team didn't want to play for the 37-year-old coach.

In an interview with ESPN from Lithuania, LaVar Ball said that he believes "Luke doesn't have control of the team," and that Walton is too young - though Ball also clarified that he has no inside knowledge of the Lakers' organization.

A number of NBA coaches were furious that ESPN published and featured Ball's comments prominently, including Rick Carlisle and Stan Van Gundy, who threatened to quit participating in interviews in games televised by ESPN. Reggie Miller, meanwhile, suggested that Magic Johnson should threaten to trade away Lonzo Ball in order to silence his father.

Advocacy group asks whether Raiders followed Rooney Rule The Fritz Pollard Alliance is calling on the NFL to investigate whether the Oakland Raiders violated the ''Rooney Rule'' when they hired Jon Gruden as coach. Fritz Pollard Alliance counsel Cyrus Mehri and N. Jeremi Duru issued a statement Wednesday expressing concern that Raiders owner Mark Davis came to an agreement with Gruden before the team interviewed any minority candidates.Davis said Tuesday after introducing Gruden as the team's new coach that he believed that Gruden was ''all in'' to take the job during a meeting on Christmas Eve.

The Lakers ' internal opinion of coach Luke Walton has been a hot topic of discussion after rookie point guard Lonzo Ball's father recently told ESPN that "nobody It appears that Jeanie Buss , controlling owner and president of the Lakers , is intent on proving just how erroneous those comments were.

Luke Walton . jeanie buss . “Whatever you want to say about LaVar Ball, he has smoked out the fact that the Lakers do not support Luke Walton . And that is now crystal clear.

On Friday, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst told Rich Eisen that according to his sources the Lakers do not, in fact, support Luke Walton unconditionally and floated the idea the Lakers may go after former Grizzlies coach David Fizdale if they want to impress LeBron James.

Curiously, on Saturday, Lakers owner and CEO Jeanie Buss announced that she's headed to Memphis to eat barbecue with Walton and GM Rob Pelinka, and attached the hashtag #InLukeWeTrust.

The Lonzo Ball era is only getting started in Los Angeles, and it's already off the rails.
