Pendley alleged that Pastner exposed himself and attempted to force her to perform a sex act on him in a hotel room when Pastner was coaching at Memphis. Bell, a onetime friend of Pastner's, was in a bathroom showering at the time, Pendley alleged.

Pastner's attorney, Scott Tompsett, denied Pendley's allegations earlier Thursday, calling it part of Bell's plan to blackmail Pastner over NCAA rules violations.

"There was no sexual assault. It is a lie. Josh never acted inappropriately with Ms. Pendley," Tompsett said in a prepared statement.

"Mr. Bell and Ms. Pendley began alleging assault only after their two-month long scheme to blackmail Josh by claiming he knowingly participated in NCAA violations failed," Tompsett added.
