Rumors continue to persist that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski could very well decide to retire. It’s something that has been out there since Gronk himself refused to commit to playing next season following February’s Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

With offseason programs and organized team activities now taking place around the NFL, we’re starting to hear a little bit more about Gronkowski’s mentality heading into draft season.

According to this one report, the Pro Bowl tight end indicated that he’s not going to attend the Patriots’ OTAs next month. Instead, Gronkowski has “dirty-biking skills” to work on.

Report: Pats' Rob Gronkowski will join Tom Brady on sideline when offseason program starts

Report: Pats' Rob Gronkowski will join Tom Brady on sideline when offseason program starts New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will join quarterback Tom Brady on the sideline when voluntary offseason workouts begin Monday.Rumors and speculation have swirled around the two-time Super Bowl champion since New England lost to Philadelphia in Super Bowl LII in February.

► Rob Gronkowski skipped offseason workouts because 'I've got dirt - biking skills to work on ' ► Good news: Rob Gronkowski was at Gillette Stadium on Saturday.

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was at the SuperCross event at Gillette Stadium on Saturday and said he has ' dirt biking skills to work on ' when asked if he'd be at the Patriots' voluntary workouts .

That’s sure to sit well with Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Missing organized team activities to go dirt bike riding. Solid plan, Gronk.

When asked about possible retirement, Gronkowski had this to say.

Obviously, the always entertaining Gronk was being a bit tongue-in-cheek here. Despite this, these recent comments are definitely going to be a topic of conversation behind the scenes in New England.

Rumors continue to circulate that the Patriots might look to trade the star tight end. If he’s not fully committed to putting in the offseason work, said rumors will only heat up between now and next week’s NFL Draft.

Gronkowski reportedly seeking more money from Patriots

Gronkowski reportedly seeking more money from Patriots New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has created the impression this offseason that he is strongly considering retirement, but it is starting to look more and more like his indecisiveness has everything to do with his contract situation. Gronkowski is not expected to show up when the Patriots officially begin their offseason program on Monday. While it’s possible he is still deciding if he wants to play in 2018, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports that Gronkowski’s refusal to commit is “about the money.” As Howe notes, Gronk already wanted a new contract before he revealed that he was contemplating retirement at the conclusion of Super Bowl LII. If he no longer wanted to play football, he probably would have decided that by now. For what it’s worth, ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote on Monday that he believes Gronk’s absence from Day 1 of the offseason program is a “peaceful statement” that he wants more money, as the All-Pro tight end would be forfeiting a $250,000 bonus if he doesn’t attend 90 percent of the sessions. Gronkowski’s base salary for 2018 is $8 million. That places him among the top-paid tight ends in the NFL, but it is $2 million less than the average Jimmy Graham is getting with the three-year, $30 million deal he signed with the Green Bay Packers. Plus, Gronk makes a bigger impact in the passing game than most of the league’s top receivers, and you have guys like TY Hilton and Doug Baldwin making $13 million and $11.5 million per year, respectively.

Good news: Rob Gronkowski was at Gillette Stadium on Saturday. Bad news: It wasn' t to take part in the Patriots' voluntary offseason workouts . And when asked by NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry why he wasn' t taking part in team workouts , Gronk offered this: "I've got dirt - biking skills to work on ."

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski isn’ t planning to show up for the team’s voluntary offseason workouts , and he Gronk was kidding (we think) about dirt biking being his top offseason priority, but he still hasn’ t said whether he’s going to play another season in the NFL or retire from football.

If the Browns decide to take Barkley here, a quarterback is still very much a possibility with their next pick. Barkley's gained more than 3,800 yards from scrimmage and 43 touchdowns over the last two seasons for Penn State, not to mention his kick return prowess so his versatility could immediately transform a mediocre Cleveland offense into something more respectable. 2018 NFL first-round mock draft
