Allardyce has reportedly told Rooney he could pursue another club because he would potentially be facing reduced playing time next season.

Rooney would become the highest paid DC player, but United could sure use a lift from a proven veteran. The club is currently tied with San Jose with five points at the bottom of the MLS standings.
