Report: Celtics might not take Markelle Fultz at No. 1 It’s been assumed by many for a while now that Washington point guard Markelle Fultz will be the No. 1 pick of the 2017 NBA Draft . But maybe that’s a bit hasty, according to a report by Chad Ford of ESPN, who notes the Boston Celtics have a handful of players they’re considering. Per Ford, Fultz is very much still in the mix. However, the Celtics are also considering Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson, De’Aaron Fox and Jayson Tatum. This is an interesting report for a couple reasons.

The Suns have been trying to trade up and have had conversations with both the Lakers and Celtics. Unfortunately for the Suns , Ford’s mock has neither Lonzo Ball nor Josh Jackson available to them at No. 4, as he has the point guard going to the Lakers at two and the forward to the Celtics

The Phoenix Suns are making a push to land their point guard of the future.

Phoenix has had trade discussions with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics to move up in this week's draft and take Lonzo Ball, ESPN's Chad Ford reports. Phoenix currently owns the No. 4 pick.

Should the Suns manage to land Ball, it would give them a pass-first point guard to pair next to Devin Booker, giving Phoenix one of the top young backcourts in the Association.

LaVar Ball: Celtics already have leader, Lakers would be ‘Lonzo’s team’ Unlike most stars coming out of college, Lonzo Ball has no interest in being the top overall pick in the NBA Draft. The former UCLA point guard wants to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, but his infamously outspoken father says that is not a knock on the Boston Celtics. In a recent appearance on the CSN CelticsTalk Podcast with Kyle Draper and A. Sherrod Blakely, LaVar Ball said he feels the Celtics have no room for his son because they already have an established leader in Isaiah Thomas.“Team-wise, the Lakers are a better fit,” he said. “They really don’t have a leader. Boston already went to the playoffs.

The Lakers are reportedly "closer and closer" to taking Ball with the No. 2 pick, making a trade with Phoenix difficult.

Current starter Eric Bledsoe is coming off a strong season with the Suns, averaging 21.1 points, 6.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals, but has just two years left on his contract entering next season.
