Celtics soured on Fultz due to lack of explosiveness in workout? The Boston Celtics seemed to do a quick 180 on top prospect Markelle Fultz, and now we may have a bit of an idea why. According to what ESPN’s Michael Eaves tweeted on Sunday, some members of the Celtics organization were not impressed by Fultz’s workout and pointed to a perceived lack of explosiveness on the part of the former Washington star.Received some surprising info on Markelle Fultz and the #Celtics today. Markelle Fultz joked he might have signed with Big Baller Brand if it didn't help the Ball family© File photo Markelle Fultz joked he might have signed with Big Baller Brand if it didn't help the Ball family Markelle Fultz looks set to go as the No. 1 pick when Philadelphia makes its selection at Thursday's NBA draft - something he's wanted to achieve directly in competition with Lonzo Ball.

While Ball had the more successful season in collge, Fultz has done his part to fuel a rivalry that will carry into the NBA. Last week, Fultz signed a shoe contract with Nike, but he had joked that he considered signing with LaVar Ball's Big Baller Brand. The brand released a $495 pair of ZO2 sneakers, which weren't even ready in time for Lonzo's Lakers workout.

Fultz says he considered signing with Big Baller Brand

Fultz says he considered signing with Big Baller Brand Markelle Fultz is almost certainly going to be the first overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft, with the Sixers having traded up with Boston for the pick in a blockbuster deal over the weekend. As with most surefire top picks, Fultz has already inked a deal with an athleticwear company; last week, he signed a multiyear deal with Nike:Potential No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz has agreed to a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike, source tells @TheVertical.

Still, Fultz signing with his rival’s small, family-owned apparel company , Big Baller Brand , would have been the most stunning possible move.

But in exchange with his trainer and the Washington Post's Kent Babb, Fultz had some jokes about Big Baller Brand:

Williams: You sure you don't want to sign with them?

Fultz: I was thinking about it, but then I would make him money, though.

Williams: Or lose them more money.

[Babb asks if there was serious consideration for Team Fultz to join Big Baller Brand]

Fultz: I don't know, honestly.

Williams: I don't think they've got money to sign nobody.

From that conversation, there's no real indication that Fultz considered Big Baller Brand. He mainly wanted to throw out a joke about making money for LaVar and Lonzo.

Given that ZO2 sneakers haven't shipped yet (and may not ship until November), it's likely BBB wouldn't even be in a position to sign a player like Fultz.

And he won't be charging $495 for his Nike sneakers either.

Kevin Durant had jokes for the new nickname for Markelle Fultz, Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, and Ben Simmons. Not long after the Sixers selected Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick in last Thursday’s NBA Draft, Embiid sent out a tweet with a new nickname for Philadelphia’s four prominent young players. Below is what they will now be known as.
