The Rossoneri are reportedly prepared to offer the Spanish striker €10 million ($11.5 million) a season, which would apparently exceed Chelsea's economic proposal.

Those figures represent an increase from Laudisa's initial report in May, when Gazzetta's senior writer claimed Morata had agreed to a €60-million ($68.8 million) move with the promise of earning €7.5 million ($8.6 million) per season.

AC Milan are close to completing a £61million move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata , according to reports in Italy. La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the deal is close to completion, with Milan set to continue their summer spending spree despite the reported fee being significantly below Real ' s

Manchester United's interest in the 24-year-old derailed Milan's pursuit, but the Red Devils have again cleared the way after securing the services of Romelu Lukaku.

Sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli confirmed to media Monday that Milan has been targeting Morata "right from the start," but added he would arrive "only on our conditions."

Talks over Morata began just before Milan embarked on a massive spending spree.

"There were some complications that emerged between the final of the Champions League and when other clubs who were interested arrived, so it all cooled down," Mirabelli said, per ESPN FC's Ben Gladwell.

In the time since, the Italian side has recruited 10 new players, most notably Leonardo Bonucci, who agreed to a controversial switch from Juventus.

REAL MADRID striker Alvaro Morata hasn't chosen to join AC Milan , according to reporter Rob Dorsett. " Reports in Spain did suggest Morata was very close to joining AC Milan and we full expected that to be his first choice.

AC Milan are said to be edging closer to completing a deal for Alvaro Morata as their formidable summer spending spree continues, seemingly putting an end any lingering hopes Chelsea or Manchester United may have had of capturing the Real Madrid striker.

Laudisa and Passoto believe Bonucci's friendship with Morata - which dates back to their two years together in Turin - has already had an impact on negotiations.

The Red Devils apparently balked at Madrid's €90-million ($103.2 million) asking price, and Milan has now made it clear it won't surrender to the capital club's demands.

Chelsea also remains an option for the 24-year-old, who scored 15 La Liga goals last season despite spending significant time on the bench.
