Marquise Goodwin pushed through a lot of pain to play against the Giants. After the 49 ers beat the New York Giants for their first win of the season Sunday, Goodwin posted on Instagram that he and his wife Morgan’ s infant son died earlier in the morning.

In the wake of their newborn son ’ s death , Marquise and Morgan Goodwin are leaning on each other. Just hours before playing a headline-making game against the New York Giants, Marquise stayed with Morgan in the hospital after the delivery.

San Francisco 49 ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin played in Week 10 with a heavy heart. Hours after the death of his son , Goodwin somehow found the endurance to play a professional football game. The receiver talked about the decision to play in a conference call on Tuesday, and

Goodwin made the tragic announcement on Instagram, and in the game, he scored an 83-yard touchdown before dropping to his knees for an emotional celebration.

On Tuesday, Goodwin spoke about the family tragedy, thanking everyone for the support over the past few days. He said via nbcsports.com:

"Morgan and I appreciate all the love we've gotten," Goodwin said.

"We do have a lot of people that are following us through our journey. So we can maybe help people who've dealt with similar things that we have gone through or learn things from people who've been through our situation."

Goodwin continued to reveal that his wife urged him to play in the game.

"Really, it was my wife's decision," Goodwin said. "I asked her if she would like me to stay with her and she insisted that I go play in the game because she felt like my team needed me.
