A conversation with Dustin Pedroia In a wide-ranging interview with Dustin Pedroia, who is recovering from major knee surgery, the de facto Red Sox captain touched on many topics.Pedroia said his rehab has gone well, with no setbacks and no swelling. In addition to the cartilage restoration surgery on the inner part of his left knee, he also underwent microfracture surgery on his left fibula, the damage caused by playing through his knee injury. There’s no real target date on when he can return to the Red Sox, but estimates based on what’s left on his rehab schedule put it sometime in late April or early May.

Booga, named after the commercial fishing boat whose crew rescued the 125-pound (57-kilo) reptile in late September, was released Saturday at Marathon's Sombrero Beach as hundreds of Keys residents and visitors watched.

The crew found the turtle tangled in a fishing trap line.

Booga's right rear flipper was amputated due to the severe entanglement injury. Additional treatment included broad-spectrum antibiotics, vitamins, laser treatment, physical therapy and a healthy diet of squid and lettuce.

Turtle Hospital officials said that even with the missing flipper, Booga has excellent chances to survive and breed.
